- The machine has been reliable up to now, and this is its first real fault.
- Parts are still readily available for the model.
- The trouble is airflow, a clog, or a sensor rather than a major mechanical failure.
When we'd tell you to replace it
Less often, but it happens, and we'll say so.
- The failure is in a major sealed component, like a compressor, a sealed refrigeration system, or a transmission.
- The repair would cost a large share of what a comparable new unit costs.
- It has already been fixed more than once for unrelated faults, which usually means more are coming.
- Parts have been discontinued, and what's left is salvage of unknown history.
